I have been traveling recently out of the country. During my travels I have met people from all over. Some originally from the places I am at, others who moved or vacationed once and never left. Hearing the stories of their lives and where life has taken them is very interesting.

As Christmas and New Year's draw closer I often think more about life. Looking at social media today I saw that back home a husband shot his wife in the head outside the bank. 2 days before Christmas. In an instant those involved had their lives changed in ways we cannot comprehend. One second completely changed the course of their life forever. Even if old routines and things return, the people will never be the same. It will be a mark in their lives. A stop. Akin to the BC and AD, they will have their own marker.

I think everyone has a moment or moments like that in their lives. Even the people who never seem to leave. I also think the older we get the more interesting we become, but also the less interested we become in talking about ourselves.

We are alone together here and some people we are meant to cross paths with and just happen by chance. As I continue on my trip and meet different I take bits and pieces from them. I note the things about them that inspire me, that I want to emulate, or that make me feel better about aspects of myself. Inspiration is everywhere. Beauty is everywhere, kindness and sorrow are in every person. If we soften our gaze we can see it. If we soften ourselves we can feel it.
